India defeated Italy 5-1 in their last group stage encounter of the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers at Ranchi. Star player Udita shined with her two goals. Contributions from Deepika, Salima Tete, and Navneet helped India for their one goal each. 

The Indian team will now take on Germany in the semi final.

Indeed, even a draw would have been enough for the Indian women’s hockey team to enter the semi-finals of the Paris Olympics qualifiers.
