Ischemic Stroke: Mithun Chakraborty hospitalized in Kolkata Veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty (73) has been hospitalized in the Emergency ward at Apollo Hospitals in Kolkata due to Ischemic Stroke, An ischemic stroke happens when the blood flow to a part of the brain is blocked or decreased, leading to a lack of oxygen and nutrients to the affected area. This causes brain cells to start dying within minutes. Another type of stroke is a hemorrhagic stroke, which occurs when a blood vessel in the brain ruptures and causes bleeding. The build-up of blood puts pressure on brain cells and causes damage. Veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty reportedly experienced severe chest pain and acute uneasiness while filming a TV show in his hometown on Saturday morning.
