"Ahlan Modi": PM Modi at diaspora event in Abu Dhabi

PM Modi lands in UAE ahead of the inauguration of UAE's First Hindu temple at BAPS Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi on 14th February.

PM Modi gets grand welcome in UAE.

The Prime Minister will address to a crowd of more than 50,000 Indian expats at the Sheikh Zayed Sports Stadium in Abu Dhabi on February 13. The event is being referred to as "Ahlan Modi (Hello Modi)". Prime Minister Modi's overseas address to the largest community reception makes it particularly noteworthy. The event is being called one of Prime Minister Modi's most significant gatherings with the Indian community living abroad.

Ahlan Modi

Speaking to the enthusiastic audience gathered at the 'Ahlan Modi' event, PM Modi conveyed heartfelt appreciation to the diverse attendees hailing from different corners of the UAE and various states of India.

"You have scripted history by coming in such large numbers here. You may have come from different parts of UAE and from different states of India, but everyone's hearts are connected," Modi remarked at the commencement of the event, which opened with the rendition of the national anthems of both nations. He added, "This is the time to hail the friendship between India and the UAE. In this historic stadium, every heartbeat echoes the same sentiment- Long live Bharat-UAE friendship,"

The atmosphere was electric with chants of "Modi-Modi" reverberating throughout the stadium, epitomizing the collective respect and admiration for the Indian Prime Minister among those present.

“I have come to meet my family members. I have brought the fragrance of the soil where you were born and have brought the message of 140 crore people. The message is that Bharat is proud of you, "he spoke to the gathering.

The UAE hosts approximately 3.5 million Indian nationals, constituting the largest expatriate community in the Gulf country.

During his address, Prime Minister Modi also reminisced about his first visit to the UAE in 2015, fondly recalling the hospitality and friendship extended to him by the Emirati leadership.

Reflecting on his inaugural official trip to the UAE, PM Modi recalled, “I remember my first visit in 2015 when it had been only some time since I came to the Centre. It was the first visit of an Indian PM to the UAE, after three decades. The world of diplomacy was new to me.” PM Modi recounted the warm reception he received from the then Crown Prince, now President, alongside his five brothers, highlighting the graciousness and hospitality extended during his visit.

Prime Minister Modi's acknowledgment and praise of the friendship between India and the UAE is a significant recognition of the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. India and the UAE have historically enjoyed friendly relations, with cooperation across various sectors such as trade, investment, energy, and security. The UAE is one of India's largest trading partners and a crucial source of investment and employment opportunities for Indian nationals. Both countries have also collaborated closely on issues of mutual interest at regional and international forums. Recognizing and celebrating this friendship serves to strengthen the bonds between India and the UAE, fostering further collaboration and partnership for the benefit of both nations and their people.

The UAE is currently home to a large Indian population, with around 3.5 million individuals who play a crucial role in the Indian workforce in the Gulf nation.

Before departing for his visit to the United Arab Emirates today, the Prime Minister mentioned in another post on X that during the next two days, which will also include a visit to Qatar, he will "participate in various programs aimed at strengthening India's bilateral relations with these nations."
