The Prime Minister will address to a crowd of more than 50,000 Indian expats at the Sheikh Zayed Sports Stadium in Abu Dhabi on February 13. The event is being referred to as "Ahlan Modi (Hello Modi)". Prime Minister Modi's overseas address to the largest community reception makes it particularly noteworthy. The event is being called one of Prime Minister Modi's most significant gatherings with the Indian community living abroad.Speaking to the enthusiastic audience gathered at the 'Ahlan Modi' event, PM Modi conveyed heartfelt appreciation to the diverse attendees hailing from different corners of the UAE and various states of India.
"You have scripted history by coming in such large numbers here. You may have come from different parts of UAE and from different states of India, but everyone's hearts are connected," Modi remarked at the commencement of the event, which opened with the rendition of the national anthems of both nations. He added, "This is the time to hail the friendship between India and the UAE. In this historic stadium, every heartbeat echoes the same sentiment- Long live Bharat-UAE friendship,"“I have come to meet my family members. I have brought the fragrance of the soil where you were born and have brought the message of 140 crore people. The message is that Bharat is proud of you, "he spoke to the gathering.
Prime Minister Modi's acknowledgment and praise of the friendship between India and the UAE is a significant recognition of the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. India and the UAE have historically enjoyed friendly relations, with cooperation across various sectors such as trade, investment, energy, and security. The UAE is one of India's largest trading partners and a crucial source of investment and employment opportunities for Indian nationals. Both countries have also collaborated closely on issues of mutual interest at regional and international forums. Recognizing and celebrating this friendship serves to strengthen the bonds between India and the UAE, fostering further collaboration and partnership for the benefit of both nations and their people.
The UAE is currently home to a large Indian population, with around 3.5 million individuals who play a crucial role in the Indian workforce in the Gulf nation.
Before departing for his visit to the United Arab Emirates today, the Prime Minister mentioned in another post on X that during the next two days, which will also include a visit to Qatar, he will "participate in various programs aimed at strengthening India's bilateral relations with these nations."
