Hemant Soren arrested: Champai Soren new Jharkhand CM


In a dramatic situation, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has been arrested by ED in the alleged land scam in Ranchi on Wednesday. 

Hemant Soren resigns from CM post and Champai Soren set to be new CM of Jharkhand. 

More than 41 MLAs back Champai Soren; in the 80-member assembly, 41 is the majority vote.

Senior leader Champai Soren has been a part of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) since the party's founding alongside Hemant Soren's father, Shibu Soren.

Champai Soren is currently cabinet minister of transport, and Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes welfare the Hemant Soren government.


Hemant Soren became the third Jharkhand Chief Minister to be arrested after his father, Shibu Soren, and Madhu Koda.
