RCBW secure convincing victory over GGT 

Royal Challengers Bangalore Women secure convincing win over Gujarat Giants Women in Match 5th of WPL 2024


In a thrilling encounter at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (RCBW) clinched a commanding victory against the Gujarat Giants Women (GGT) in the 5th match of the Women's Premier League 2024 on Tuesday, 27th February.

RCBW win over GGW

Batting first, Gujarat Giants Women managed to post a total of 107/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Hemalatha showcased her batting prowess with a notable contribution of 31 runs off 25 balls, while Harleen Deol supported the innings with a steady knock of 22 runs off 31 balls. However, the RCBW bowlers displayed exceptional skill and discipline, with Australian all-rounder Molineux leading the attack with a remarkable spell of 3 wickets for 25 runs. Renuka Singh also made a significant impact with figures of 2 wickets for 14 runs.

Chasing a modest target, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women's batters put up a clinical performance, reaching the target of 108 runs in just 12.3 overs with 8 wickets in hand. Skipper Smriti Mandhana led from the front with a dazzling knock of 43 runs off 27 balls, providing a strong start to the chase. Sabbhineni Meghana contributed a valuable 36 runs off 28 balls, while Ellyse Perry provided the finishing touches with an explosive innings of 23 runs off 14 balls.

Despite a lone effort from bowlers Ashleigh Gardner and Tanuja Kanwar, who managed to pick up one wicket each, the Gujarat Giants Women's bowling attack struggled to contain the rampant RCBW batters.

Renuka Thakur Singh was awarded the Player of the Match for her outstanding performance with the ball, playing a pivotal role in restricting the Gujarat Giants Women to a modest total.

With this comprehensive victory, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women continue their winning streak in the Women's Premier League 2024, showcasing their dominance and solidifying their position as a formidable force in the tournament.
