Delhi Capitals Women outshine Gujarat Giants

In an electrifying showdown at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Delhi Capitals Women emerged victorious against the Gujarat Giants in the 10th match of the WPL 2024 on Sunday, 3rd March. Opting to bat after winning the toss, the Delhi Capitals Women posted a competitive total of 163/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Delhi Capitals Women win

Skipper Meg Lanning led from the front with a splendid knock of 55 runs off 41 balls, supported by Alice Capsey's brisk 27 off 17 balls. Despite a valiant effort by the Gujarat Giants bowlers, particularly Meghna Singh with figures of 4 wickets for 37 runs and Ashleigh Gardner's two crucial wickets, Delhi managed to set a formidable target.

In response, the Gujarat Giants struggled to chase down the target, finishing at 138/8 in their 20 overs. Ashleigh Gardner provided some resistance with a commendable 40 runs off 31 balls, but lacked substantial support from her teammates. Radha Yadav and Player of the Match, Jess Jonassen, wreaked havoc with the ball, claiming three wickets each and restricting the Giants' batting lineup.

With this victory, Delhi Capitals Women secured their third consecutive win, ascending to the top of the table, while Gujarat Giants faced their fourth consecutive defeat, diminishing their chances of making it to the playoffs. Gujarat's batting lineup, including key players like Mooney, Wolvaardt, and Litchfield, faltered once again, contributing to their team's downfall.

The Gujarat camp faces significant challenges, with concerns arising about their batting form and overall performance. However, they remain hopeful for a turnaround in fortunes as they head into the Delhi leg of the tournament. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals Women continue their impressive run, displaying dominance and consistency in the WPL 2024 competition.
