In a thrilling encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women emerged victorious against the Mumbai Indians Women in the 19th match of the WPL 2024. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, RCBW put up a stellar performance to restrict MIW to 113 all out in 19 overs.

Perry win for RCBW

MIW struggled to build momentum throughout their innings, with S Sajana being the highest scorer with 30 runs off 21 balls and Hayley Matthews contributing 26 runs off 23 balls. However, no other MIW batter managed to cross the twenties mark. The standout performer with the ball for RCBW was Ellyse Perry, who delivered a lethal spell, claiming 6 wickets for just 15 runs in her quota of 4 overs.

In response to the modest target, RCBW faced some early setbacks, losing their openers Mandhana and Sophie Molineux. However, Ellyse Perry showcased her all-round prowess, anchoring the innings with a crucial knock of 40 runs off 38 balls. She received valuable support from Richa Ghosh, who scored 36 runs off 28 balls. Despite some resistance from MIW bowlers such as Shabnim Ismail, Hayley Matthews, and Nat Sciver-Brunt, who each took 1 wicket, RCBW comfortably chased down the target in 15 overs, winning by 7 wickets.
